Installation ︎︎︎ Communal fires, Konstkollektivet, Mölndal (2026)
Communal fires - Explores fire as a collective practice for cooking and rituals; resulting in a permanent outdoor kitchen with a wood fired oven.
The project was initiated in 2025 through a workshop and celebration of Castanyada, inviting the community of Konstkollektivet to come together and share personal experiences and stories relating to communal fire, and to collectively design a future fireplace.
As a second step, we studied the site and the material boundaries and possibilities. Konstkollektivet is located in an old industrial area undergoing large scale redevelopment. We were able to secure bricks demounted from old walls locally, thanks to Mölndals stad, donating them to this project.
We conducted a workshop where participants were invited to test out layouts of the future outdoor kitchen. Building with bricks (without mortar) getting a spatial experience of what it could become.
Finally we built the outdoor kitchen, basing the construction of the oven on a traditional wood fired brick oven. The kitchen was inaguarated in September 2026.
This project was done with the support of Mölndals stad, Konstkollektivet, and of course, everyone who participated in the workshops and building of the kitchen. Thank you! ︎
